2007 is an important year for our company. 25 years ago, in 1982, several confident and enthusiastic translators and interpreters established the "economic work team", or gmk., called MULTI-LINGUA. If you have never heard of gmk, it is probably because it only existed for a period of ten years, and was the only associated form of private enterprise that existed at the time besides the "partnership under the Civil Code", or pjt.
What was MULTI-LINGUA gmk like? It is pretty easy to summarize, since the "founding fathers" included everything (besides the initial capital) that a well founded company needs, such as a positive business mentality: "We can fulfil the customer’s every wish", and a straightforward business approach devoid of all trickery.
- Respect of the customer and the goal of the best possible service
- Punctuality: keeping all deadlines
- Punctuality: fulfilling all points of the order
- Quality guarantee: the selection and training of the best in-house employees
- Quality guarantee: the selection of the best freelance translators (knowledge of the given language, translating adeptness, professional background)
- Proper business relationship with freelance translators, including providing a contract for every job order that includes the exact amount due
- The professional aid of translators (the big project of converting to computerization)
- Forms to aid everyday duties: order form, contract with the translator, pricing, consignment note, invoice.
Of course, you can say that these are obvious things. But, in reality, many translation offices start off their businesses a lot less organized.
After 25 years, we wish for no more than to continue with the mentality of the founders, which means first and foremost that all the above must be applied in today’s world.
What kind of a future does MULTI-LINGUA, Inc. hope for? We hope our successors will gladly celebrate the 50th anniversary of the company, and will be just as proud of both periods of 25 years.
