According to the latest issue of The Translator, a periodical published by NZTC International, the translation industry will survive the recession better than most because it plays a key role in helping communication.
NZTC International, a New Zealand-based translation company, noted that the same optimistic message was delivered by Margarita Griggs, a member of the American Translators’ Association. According to Ms Griggs, the United States will rely more on the global economy because the domestic economy is struggling. Over the past decade, the translation and interpreting services industry has grown at a rate of 10 to 15 per cent annually over the past decade and is now a $US11 billion industry.
